JJ and Pops' Visit

Clark and I went out of town a couple of weekends ago and JJ and Pops came up to keep the kids. They had so much fun. Katie is cheering and Clayton is playing basketball for Upward. They had a surprise birthday cake for JJ. And they also went to WRASSLIN Friday night so they practiced some moves. The awesome blankets were made by Jamie's sister, Cindy. Here are some pictures they took (you can click on them to see them bigger).

I'm taking it off!

Over the past 12 years I gradually put on a lot of weight. About 3 years ago I lost about 40 lbs. I've kept most of it off, but the weight has started to creep back on. I've decided that enough is enough. I feel gross so I've started the Curves 6 Week Solution ("Permanent Weight Loss without Permanent Dieting"). I've been a member of Curves for several years, but now I'm adding the weight management class.

I started Wednesday at a beginning weight of 178 and have set my goal for 165. That is still above what the charts say I should be, but I've always weighed more than I look like I do, so I think this is a good goal. Anyway, I've lost 2 lbs since Wednesday and it is only Friday. They say you lose more the first week due to water weight, but still, it is very encouraging.

I've added a weight loss ticker on the right hand side to create a visual as I head towards my goal. I'm excited and appreciate your support!!!!

Clayton, the big hunter!

Clark and Clayton (and Kenny) went on the 26th Annual Father/Son hunting trip at the Upchurch Hunting Club in north MS. This was Clayton's 2nd trip and killed his first and second deer (within minutes of each other). He first killed a doe and then turned around and got a spike. An interesting note - Kenny, Clark, and Clayton all killed their first deer with "Puff" Upchurch (to the left of Clark). We are so proud of Clayton!

Making Mozzarella

My mom (Gami) came to visit this weekend while Clark and Clayton were on a Father/Son hunting trip. Not only did she make the house even more gorgeous, she brought the ingredients to MAKE mozzarella cheese with the girls. They enjoyed it until they had to form the curd into balls and then Katie was out saying she doesn't like to touch stuff like that. They then soaked the balls in buttermilk. Camille finally decided she would try it when it was out, but didn't go for the immediate buttermilk taste. I, on the other hand, will eat it all once it has soaked up Mom's amazing marinade.
